INSIDE Surpasses Five Million Unit Milestone at Singapore’s Sentosa Resort

Aix en Provence, France, September 24th 2007 -- INSIDE Contactless, a world leader of advanced, open standard contactless chip technologies, today announced that shipments of its PicoPass technology have surpassed five million units on the resort island of Sentosa in Singapore.  INSIDE initially began working with packaging partner China Global Intelligence in 2006, to supply Sentosa with thermal printed tickets and smartcards for contactless admissions and purchases at the various attractions, retail, and food & beverage outlets throughout the island.

As Singapore's premier island resort getaway, Sentosa provides an impressive blend of leisure and recreational facilities that include family attractions, sea sports, golf, and other accommodations and retreats.  A canopy of rainforest covers 70 percent of the island, and Sentosa’s 3 kilometer stretch of white sand beach features almost 700 luxury beachfront accommodations with full facilities.  Accessed by cable car, bus, taxi or car, the island is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Since Sentosa’s inception in 1972, almost a billion dollars has been invested from private and government sources to develop the island, and entertain guests with events all year round.

Since 2002, INSIDE has deployed millions of PicoPass contactless memory chips for applications in access control, transport, payment, and ID throughout the world.  Inside’s dual protocol support of PicoPass offers greater flexibility for applications requiring proximity distance communications using today’s latest standards.  The PicoPass chips used in the Sentosa tickets have more memory than any other solution on the market, which enables Sentosa to add value-added, personalization features onto their guest cards.

“Our efforts with Sentosa have created a true win-win-win situation, because the resort provides the perfect environment for contactless technology – one that pleases the guests while making perfect business sense for all involved,” said INSIDE’s Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Asia Pacific, Goh Say Yeow.  "With more than five million units shipped to date, we’re looking forward to continuing our efforts with Sentosa to bring additional contactless services to the resort’s guests."
