Network information extraction Vendor Expands to Meet Growing US Demand; Appoints Erik Larsson Marketing Vice President

Washington, DC and Paris, France, October 7th, 2008 – Qosmos , the industry leader in information extraction solutions based on advanced Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology, today announced two key milestones in its growth: the opening of a new US-based operation and the appointment of Erik Larsson as its new Vice President of Marketing.
Qosmos provides software modules and appliances that detect and extract business-critical information from IP networks in real time. While DPI typically addresses a limited set of uses (e.g. network optimization, traffic shaping and security), Qosmos extends the benefits of network intelligence to new applications, such as data retention for regulatory compliance, data leak prevention, content-based billing, audience measurement, and business-application optimization. Qosmos technology has already been deployed by telecom equipment manufacturers, systems integrators and software vendors who have created a wide variety of value added applications to help their network operator clients better monetize, optimize and track the information traveling over networks.

Paris-based Qosmos has experienced consistent growth during the past several years, leading to the decision to establish a physical entity to continue the company’s expansion into North America. Based in Washington DC, Qosmos-US will focus on sales and business development opportunities and local support.

“We see North America as a key market and are very happy to hit the ground running,” said Thibaut Bechetoille, CEO at Qosmos. “This move will help us expand our base of North American customers while establishing meaningful business partnerships and improving our service.”

Erik Larsson joins Qosmos from Comverse, where he led marketing and communication for Netcentrex IP Communications. Based in Qosmos’s Paris headquarters, he will drive all aspects of marketing, including company positioning, product marketing, communications and branding.
“Erik is a multi-cultural executive with a proven track record of leveraging marketing initiatives to strengthen business performance and facilitating international development of early stage high tech companies,” commented Bechetoille. “His experience will be a major asset to our team at a crucial phase of expansion into new markets and applications.”

“I am delighted to join a pioneer like Qosmos,” said Larsson. “The company has an unmatched information extraction engine. Organizations have an increasing need to extract information in real time from IP networks, and can create value-added solutions based on that intelligence. As a result, we have a tremendous market opportunity to expand and accelerate our growth.”

In his previous role, Larsson joined Comverse through the acquisition of Netcentrex, where he played a significant role in developing the company’s image and reputation as a leader in VoIP applications. Prior to that, he successfully managed marketing activities for Web hosting provider Integra, which later became part of Level 3. He also held several senior positions in international marketing at Nortel.

Larsson has published a number of articles in high tech media and is a frequent speaker at industry events. He holds a MS in Engineering Physics from KTH (Sweden) and an M.B.A. degree from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
